Caleidoscope is a new lighting concept designed by Frederike Top. It's character lies in the contrast of simple construction, combined with the unexpected. At first glance the lamp's facade appears non-intrusive and plain, while further inspection reveals an array of infinite patterns and colour. The generated shapes and sense of infinity reflect the same principles and wonder of a kaleidoscope.

For Rabobank Utrecht e.o. Frederike made Caleidoscope XL, a big pendant lamp underneath the ornament which is characteristic for the room. When you sit at the table you can watch the old pattern reflect endlessly in the new design.

Designed by Frederike in collaboration with Jeroen Wand and Suzanne Rietdijk (Groene Honden) for 'Vroaam', which was organized especially for beginning designers by the BNO. The interactive lounge was filled with race-furniture: different types of chairs, tables and lights were made into unique and playful furniture. It turned the living room into a race track, with all the furniture competing. (photographer: Bas Brummans)

Going South is a wallpaper wich will be finished with an amount of light. Their shadows makes the birds complete. Birds seems to fly, especially when you pass-by, the wind will let the wings softly bounce.

1_2 is a pendant lamp that carries two energy saving light bulbs. The smallest, and higher placed, light bulb (5 watt) shines with a soft, pleasant light, while the bigger and lower placed bulb (20 watt) shines more brightly. When an even brighter, more practical illumination is needed both bulbs can be switched on together. This way three completely different levels of lighting can be created. Two elegantly dangling lines are used to switch on the light bulbs, the switch to the higher placed light bulb being the one that is most reachable, to encourage people to use the bulb that is most energy saving. Flown up is a series of lamps which makes your mind wonder. Due to the lamps shapes and silhouettes they look as if they are blowing in the wind. The perfect amount of atmospheric light gives you a feeling of mystery that strengthens the feeling of enchantment from these lamps. Flown Up is available as a handmade 'limited edition' by Frederike, and in the collection of Zuiver (www.zuiver.nl) (photographer: Bas Brummans)

Roset projects from the lamp a rosette on the ceiling. A small intervention can cause a big change. By placing the disk above the lightbulb a image will appear on the ceiling. The effect from the light and shadow is blurred which gives you a surprising result. Frederike Top for Dark (www.dark.be)

Shine contains an ornament in itself, as a surprise. These day`s they don't make ornaments like they used too. Shine uses the lamps effect to bring an ornament into any house. The Shine lamp is shaped like a simple sphere. When switched on, Shine projects a shadow of an ornament on to the ceiling. This then achives in giving your house and its surroundings a classical atmosphere.

Stripped is a chandelier. Undressed. In contrary to the usual baroque chandeliers, Stripped represents simpleness and emptiness due to its lack of abundance and finery. Stripped design means due to the extent of lines covering the light source, the lamp engulfs its surroundings with a magical play of shadows.
